Prevention Leadership Council

The Prevention Leadership Council is building a system of quality prevention and early intervention services to improve the health and well being of all children, youth and families in Colorado. They provide a strong, unified voice for prevention and early intervention in Colorado. They also promote coordinated planning, implementation and evaluation of quality prevention and early intervention services for children, youth and families at the state and local level.

Goals

The specific goals and major areas of focus include:

• Coordinating and streamlining state-level processes including: common grant applications; common criteria for selection of programs; and common processes for monitoring and program review; joint demonstration projects and a state plan;
• Enhancing the capacity of local communities and prevention/intervention service providers through a coordinated system of training and technical assistance;
• Promoting excellence in prevention and early intervention services by establishing uniform, minimum standards for programs, promoting "best practice/best processes" and fostering rigorous program evaluation;
• Assuring that enhanced/user-friendly data are available to local communities to assist them in their planning and decision-making process;
• Increasing communication among state agencies, local service providers and local coalitions regarding existing programs/services and potential sources of funding;
• Developing and maintaining a mechanism to ensure community and state collaborative planning and decision-making.
• Promoting enhanced prevention and intervention services for children and youth by reporting on program outcomes/accomplishments to key decision-making groups

Membership

Individuals from across state agencies, foundations and statewide organizations that are committed to coordinating and streamlining state processes and enhancing the quality and accessibility of prevention and early intervention services for children, youth and families in Colorado.
